Ventus AI — The AI Teammate for Healthcare

Every day, thousands of patients are denied the care they need — not because doctors can't help them, but because the system gets in the way. Insurance verifications that drag. Claims that disappear into payer portals. Denials that go unchallenged. Revenue that vanishes. Staff that burns out doing work no human should have to do. We're here to fix that.

Ventus AI is building the AI Teammate for healthcare — a team of intelligent agents that runs the back office for specialty groups, so clinicians and their teams can focus on what actually matters: patients. Our agents work inside a customer's own systems — navigating payer portals, EHRs, emails, and inbound calls exactly like a skilled human would — verifying eligibility, fighting claim denials, and recovering revenue that would otherwise be left on the table. No APIs required. No rip-and-replace. Just results.

We're founded by repeat entrepreneurs with deep experience bringing frontier AI into the real world, backed by Andreessen Horowitz, and built by engineers and researchers from Google, Meta, Apple, Stanford, CMU, and Berkeley. We're already live across specialty groups with 400+ offices under contract and paying customers nationwide — and inbound demand is accelerating. Now we need people who can help us sell it big — builders who see a once-in-a-generation market opportunity and want to be on the team that captures it.

The Role

This is a founding go-to-market role where you'll own the top of our funnel end to end. You'll source and contact DSO and healthcare-group leads, run cold outreach, prep us for conferences, and sit in on every sales call — learning the motion firsthand and driving the follow-ups that turn conversations into pilots. It's a rare mix of prospecting, deal work, and building a sales engine from scratch.

What You'll Do

  • Source leads: build target lists of DSOs and healthcare groups, find the right contacts (RCM leaders, COOs, owners), and keep the pipeline full
  • Own cold outreach across email, LinkedIn, and phone — test messaging, track what lands, and iterate fast
  • Prep us for conferences: pick the right events, book meetings ahead of time, and turn the floor into qualified pipeline
  • Sit in on every sales call, capture next steps, and own the follow-ups that move deals forward
  • Stand up the system: CRM, sequences, and the reporting we need to know what's working

Why This Role Is Special

  • Early-stage with real traction – You'll join a growing team with strong customer demand and live deployments across the U.S.
  • Founding seat – You won't inherit a playbook — you'll help write one, with real room to grow into a leadership role as the team scales
  • AI leverage – You'll do the work of a five-person team using the tools we build and run internally
  • Startup operator's training ground – Direct mentorship from the founder on every deal — ideal if you're aiming to build your own company later

What We're Looking For

  • 1–2 years in a BDR, SDR, or comparable outbound/sales role
  • A strong, clear writer — your cold emails get replies
  • Organized and relentless on follow-up; nothing falls through the cracks
  • Comfortable using AI tools to do the work of a larger team
  • Fast learner who thrives in ambiguity and wants to ship real impact
  • Bay Area based and able to work onsite in our San Mateo office
  • Experience in or around healthcare — dental/DSO, RCM, or provider operations — is a strong plus

Now we need someone who can sell it big — a closer who sees a once-in-a-generation market opportunity and wants to be on the team that captures it.

The Role

This is our founding closer. You'll own the full sales cycle end to end — discovery, pilot, close, and expansion — selling into DSOs and specialty healthcare groups. The founder will run deals alongside you at first, then hand you the keys. You'll convert our inbound pipeline, partner with our BDR on outbound, and build the repeatable playbook that the rest of the sales org will run on.

As the founding closer, you'll have outsized influence on how we sell — and as the team grows, real room to grow into a leadership role.

What You'll Do

  • Own the full cycle: run discovery, scope pilots, close contracts, and drive expansion across DSO and specialty-group accounts
  • Sell to CFO-, COO-, and RCM-led buyers — translate EBITDA pressure and revenue leakage into a clear ROI case
  • Convert our inbound pipeline and partner with the BDR to build outbound
  • Run land-and-expand: enter on one workflow, prove it, and grow a modest initial deal into a major account — a motion we've already run end to end
  • Build the playbook — pricing, objection handling, pilot-to-contract motion — that the next AEs will inherit
  • Partner with deployment so pilots convert, stick, and renew

Why This Role Is Special

  • Room to grow – As the founding closer you'll set the standard for how we sell, with the opportunity to take on more scope — and, for the right person, leadership — as the team scales
  • Early-stage with real traction – 400+ offices under contract, paying customers nationwide, and strong, growing inbound demand
  • Big deals, full ownership – Land-and-expand motion where a single account can compound into seven figures
  • Direct founder mentorship – Sell side-by-side with the founder on every deal until the playbook is yours

What We're Looking For

  • 4–6 years of full-cycle closing experience in B2B SaaS (healthcare or services-heavy sales a plus)
  • A consistent track record of hitting or beating quota on complex, mid-market or enterprise deals you personally closed
  • Comfortable running complex, multi-stakeholder deals with senior (CFO/COO) buyers
  • A builder who wants to write the playbook, not inherit one
  • Comfortable using AI tools to do the work of a larger team
  • Bay Area based and able to work onsite in our San Mateo office
  • Experience in or around healthcare — dental/DSO, RCM, or provider operations — is a strong plus

Forward Deployed Engineer

San Mateo, CA (Onsite) Full-Time

Company Description

Ventus AI is building the next generation of AI Teammates—intelligent, computer-using agents that handle the complex, manual workflows that sit at the heart of every enterprise. We specialize in automating the "messy middle" of operations: the high-variance tasks that traditional automation and API-based solutions can't touch.

Our platform enables AI agents to Operate exactly like a human would—navigating web portals, desktop applications, and legacy systems without requiring a single API. They Communicate through tools like Slack and Microsoft Teams, Learn from existing SOPs to handle edge cases, and Deliver actionable insights to leadership. Backed by world-class investors like Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Ventus is transforming manual "portal-grind" into scalable, intelligent systems that work alongside human teams.

Role Description

As a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) at Ventus, you are at the front lines of the AI revolution. You don't just build software; you deploy a digital workforce. You will work directly with clients to map out their most complex operational bottlenecks and translate them into autonomous agent behaviors. This is a high-impact, technical role that requires a mix of software engineering, systems thinking, and process design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Workflow Engineering: Deconstruct complex, multi-step business processes (SOPs) into logic that can be executed by our computer-using agents.
  • System Navigation: Design and optimize agents to handle complex UI-based challenges, including MFA, CAPTCHAs, and non-standard navigation across diverse software environments.
  • Human-in-the-Loop Design: Configure the "Communicate" layer of our agents, ensuring they proactively flag exceptions and request guidance from human colleagues in a natural, context-aware way.
  • Rapid Deployment: Lead the end-to-week implementation cycle, moving from discovery to live production in under seven days.
  • Technical Problem Solving: Debug interactions between our AI agents and various browser-native and desktop environments to ensure 99%+ reliability.

Qualifications

  • Strong CS Foundation: Proficiency in algorithms, data structures, and system design.
  • Browser-Native Expertise: Experience with web automation, scraping, or browser-control frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Selenium, Puppeteer).
  • Software Development: Strong proficiency in Python and experience building or maintaining robust, scalable software integrations.
  • Adaptability: A "builder" mindset with the ability to navigate unstructured technical environments where APIs are often unavailable.
  • Operational Intuition: The ability to quickly learn the nuances of a client's business process—regardless of the industry—and identify the "gold standard" workflow.
  • Communication: Excellent skills for bridging the gap between technical implementation and non-technical business stakeholders.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent professional experience is highly valued.

Why Ventus?

We aren't building just another tool; we are building a new type of teammate. At Ventus, you'll solve the "unsolvable" automation problems that have plagued enterprises for decades. You'll join a team of engineers from Meta, Amazon, UC Berkeley, and CMU in San Mateo to redefine how work gets done in the age of AI.

Founding Software Engineer

San Mateo, CA (Onsite) Full-Time

About Ventus AI

Ventus AI is building the next generation of AI Teammates - intelligent, computer-using agents that handle the complex, manual workflows that sit at the heart of every enterprise. We specialize in automating the "messy middle" of operations: the high-variance tasks that traditional automation and API-based solutions cannot touch.

Our AI Teammates Operate software like humans do (navigating portals and handling MFA), Communicate with human colleagues via Slack/Teams, Learn from existing SOPs, and Deliver finished work. Backed by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), we are turning agentic AI into the primary infrastructure for the modern workforce.

The Role

We are looking for a Founding Software Engineer to build the core engine behind our AI Teammates. This is not an experimental R&D role; you will be building and maintaining robust production systems that interface with real-world environments full of edge cases, ambiguity, and operational complexity.

You will work directly with the co-founders to set technical direction, establish engineering best practices, and ship at high velocity. Because you will be building the "brain" and "hands" of our agents, you will have a front-row seat to how customers interact with AI—an invaluable experience if you intend to start your own venture in the future.

What You'll Do

  • Agent Orchestration: Design and build mission-critical infrastructure for agent memory, logging, security, and observability.
  • Production-Grade Code: Write robust Python (and some TypeScript) to power low-latency, fault-tolerant, agentic workflows that can recover from UI changes and session timeouts.
  • Human-in-the-Loop: Build the communication layer that allows AI Teammates to pro-actively flag exceptions and collaborate with humans in real-time.
  • Systems Reliability: Own the end-to-end reliability of agents navigating "messy" legacy software without APIs.
  • Foundational Architecture: Make key decisions on testing, CI/CD, and monitoring pipelines from scratch.
  • Industry Diffusion: Work on a platform designed to scale across diverse industries—from Healthcare and Insurance to Finance and beyond.

You Might Be a Fit If You…

  • Are a Builder: You have built and maintained production systems end-to-end—from initial architecture to deployment and refactor.
  • Thrive in High-Autonomy: You enjoy ambiguous environments where you are trusted to figure out the "how" and "why."
  • Have Deep Technical Comfort: Proficiency with Python (async, testing, deployment) and modern development tooling is essential.
  • Balance Speed and Simplicity: You understand the trade-offs in system design and can build systems that are simple yet resilient.
  • Have a Founder Mindset: You approach code with a sense of ownership, urgency, and comfort with the "chaos" of a 0-to-1 startup.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience with agentic frameworks, browser automation (Playwright/Puppeteer), or web-scraping at scale.
  • Experience in secure data processing (SOC 2, HIPAA environments).
  • Prior startup/founding experience or significant open-source contributions.

Why Join Us?

  • Real Impact: We have real customers and a product that solves tangible, multi-hour manual bottlenecks.
  • Zero Bureaucracy: Just you, the co-founders, and the code.
  • Founder Track: We explicitly support engineers who want to learn the "business" of startups, providing direct exposure to customer discovery and product-market fit.
  • Compensation: We offer a competitive cash package and significant equity upside, reflecting your role as a founding member of the team.

Don't see a role that fits? We're always looking for talented people.
